Transformation

Here is the house today and when we first got it.
I put down a ton of bark today to keep the weeds away.
Here is a little path that I made from some bricks that use to go around the strawberries. Now we just walk right to the car rather than around the front of the yard.
Four different types of tomatoes were planted today. We put the yogurt containers with the bottom cut out over them. This keeps the birds from taking the starts and building a nest with them. Look in the background and you will see robins. I took the leaves off the large bed today. Last year I put alot of compost on the bed and then dumped leaves on top. I then put a netting over the bed to hold the leaves down. It was a nice surprise to find what kind of dirt we had this spring under all those leaves. It is the best I have ever seen. The stuff they write garden books about.

Garden Progression November 10th

Another garden progession shot. From then until today.

In the back corner of the yard I have been gathering leaves for the garden. People bag these things up and just throw them away. I steal them from the curb late at night. I hope to get another 50 or so bags. For the garden composting of course if you are wondering why.

Before & After

The outside painted

I finished painting the new siding this evening. It is Nov. 7th and it was 76 degrees outside. All week it has been beautiful which is nice since it took me 8 days to install the door, put on new siding and a new roof. I still have to re-motar the foundation. That will only take a day and then it is back to the inside room.

There is still much to do on the house but this is where it looks today and what it looked like a year ago.

Last October and today

I love the before and after shots. Perhaps it is the way God feels about a life that has been submitted to Him. The bottom picture is the garden last October, which was an improvement from where we first found it. This morning while looking through the old pictures I found it and had to take a picture to compare the difference. There is so much more to do but we are making progress.

Studio

The last few days I have been using the last of the floor boards to create a studio desk, printer table and framing table for myself. When we first arrived here I just pulled the mouldings off the wall and turned them into the tables I was using. There hasn't been much posted about this room as I wasn't to happy with the old tables that were slapped together looked. This is what the studio looked like in April 2008.
This is the studio a few weeks ago. It worked but......

This is the new studio, with a new layout, desk and tables. Mostly all made from the floor boards from the back porch.
Boo Boo has found his spot on the rug, I think.

How the Garden grows

It seems every week that passes the garden grows by leaps and bounds. This week it will be in the 80's and sunny so I would think it will double in size. If you click the photo above you can see a close up.

The Haircut finished

Here the house finally has the hair cut finished. 3 trees were taken all the way down to the ground and one tree remaining was trimmed up. Next the chainlink fence will be taken down and only be in the backyard. It will make it look less like a prision yard. The trees next door also were trimmed back a bit.
